The work of the Mothers' Union, both centrally and in Ripon and Leeds, is covered by four Units, each with its own Unit Coordinator and with Project workers for each area of work. Unit Coordinators are elected for a three year period, renewable once, and the project workers are then chosen in consultation with the Trustees. Within our Diocese, the areas of work currently covered by each Unit are:

Action & Outreach - Barbara Packer, Unit Coordinator (See Directory for contact details)
Away From It All (AFIA) including the caravan holiday home
Child protection
Collecting projects
Parenting courses
Prison work
Representative on the Diocesan World Church Task Group
Worldwide and Worldwide Income

Faith & Policy - Janet Richardson, Unit Coordinator (See Directory for contact details)
The Faith & Policy Unit prays for its mission work, organising and coordinating retreats and prayer groups, occasional services, and supplying resources and information. Social Policy keeps up to date with issues for discussion, action and prayer support. The Unit passes information to MU members in the Diocese and to staff at Mary Sumner House. It develops links with people interested in relevant faith and church issues, eg. womens' groups, charities with similar concerns and other denominations. The Unit Coordinator attends the annual Faith & Policy Conference and reports back to the Diocese. The Unit also has responsibility for:
- Compiling the annual Wave of Prayer leaflet and prayer timetable
- Indoor Members Prayer Circle
- Prayer Network
- Prayer diary insert for Mothers' Union News
- Rota for midday prayers at Ripon Cathedral on Thursdays
